One of my favorite places in the city is Bemelmans Bar in the Carlyle Hotel. It's right across from the gallery and has a drink named after Ms. Carrie Bradshaw that is absolutely to die for. I went there last year with my Aunt and Uncle for drinks and have been going fairly regularly with them this summer too. The waiter's wear white jackets, the piano guy is amazing, and the paintings on the wall are great. The paintings are actually done by Ludwig Bemelmans who was the author and illustrator of the Madeline books. Wassup, I love art.
This is the square right outside of where I live. It's super busy, but it's nice to have a spot of green right outside of my dorm. It's interesting spot to be...usually people are lounging around (making out) and drunk people are getting yelled at by the cops. Loves it.
The Frick library. I love this place, I feel smart just sitting there. Quite a feat.
Iced coffee is really big around the gallery right now. I like to count how many cups everyone has each day. FIENDS.

Cupcakes from Crumbs! We had these for one of my coworker's birthdays. These were really good, but the champagne was even better. FOR REALZ.
Anyway, everything is great around the gallery. We are getting ready for the art fair so that's pretty exciting! If only they took the interns to the Hamptons.....!
This is one of the last pictures that I got before my camera broke! Please note this girl in boots, polka top skirt, and bright purple metallic bra top. End of story.
And I had Pinkberry tonight! I went with Kelly, a friend from Baton Rouge, to go shop in soho and then we went to pinkberry! She and I are also going to a party in Brooklyn that has FREE POPSICLES!
This is my Pinkberry. BY THE WAY, it's against the rules to take pictures in Pinkberry and I did it anyway. I did it for you, my faithful blog readers. YOU ARE WELCOME.
NY is great! My roommates are all really nice! And incredibly normal! They all go to Hamilton College in Clinton, New York. One of the girls is even on the squash team and I think that is the best thing EVER. Anyway, Emily and I went and had drinks at Cafeteria last night and that is my most favorite spot. I wish that I could go every single day. I also went and saw SEX AND THE CITY THE MOVIE today! Fabulous.
This is what I eat in NYC. Snap Pea Crisps. I made the long haul down 14th Street to save money, but Trader Joe's was so overwhelming that I think that I like Whole Foods better. I did buy three bottles of wine last night and I am down to my last one. HELLO, I HAD TO MAKE FRIENDS.
This is my dorm at NYU. It's really not that bad and I think that I might love it.
NYU CARD!
My feet hurt. First day of work at the gallery tomorrow!
1. Master my cab hailing ability. 2. Participate in protest. 3. Visit the Frick Collection 4. Eat a cupcake from Magnolia Bakery. 5. Pinkberry. Everyday. 6. Learn something about art and all that jazz. This should probably be my number one. 7. Go see the Sex and the City movie in the city! 8.OH MY GOD TWO BIRDS JUST FLEW INTO THE WINDOW HEART ATTACK
So, I've been trying to learn more about Union Square for the following reasons: a) I will be spending six glorious weeks in NYU's Carlyle dorm that is located there, and b) I hope to appear somewhat hip and knowledgeable when I arrive (unlikely). Anyway, I discovered NYU Local, and I credit it for much of my growing excitement. While browsing the site, I have learned that Union Square has had a "Silent Rave" and a protest in just the last few weeks. BEST. NEWS. EVER.
So what exactly is a silent rave you ask? If you didn't click my convienent little link (agonizing HTML) up there, I will tell you alllll about it. A "Silent Rave" is when a group of people gather together and dance to whatever music they'd like. Imagine! A group of complete strangers, complete with headphone and ipods, walkmen, or whatever, dancing around in silence! Besides, a "Silent Rave" sounds a lot easier than protesting.
Anyway, since my dorm is located in Union Square, I think that I will pretty much be the luckiest girl in the whole world. I only have six weeks in this big, big city, and I am so excited that I will be able to walk out of my dorm and think, "I wonder what Union Square is going to hold for me today? Maybe a pillow fight?"
I started this blog so that when I interned in New York, I wouldn't have to call my parents. Two years later, I moved from home to New Orleans and learned that my parents don't know how to "get to my page." I am so sure.
